Out of the Hat is a charming heritage and visitor centre brought to you by Tewkesbury Borough Council. The visitor centre has been born out of a 17th century building, loving restored, renovated and enhanced. Housing our friendly Tourist Information Centre on the ground floor, the two upperstoreys incorporate interactive displays, games, information panels and much more. Out of the Hat allows the visitor to contemplate life in the 17th century and explore the town's fascinating history. Using hand held portable media players, visitors can see and hear Bartholomew Read, a glove maker resident in the building during the 17th century, as he takes visitors around his former home. Children will also delight in using the many interactive displays - whether they are playing snakes and ladders with the Cavaliers and Roundheads or finding out about medieval battles and dressing up. The restoration of the building and the extraordinary finds within can also be seen and brought to life: learn about the construction and careful renovations, including the rediscovered wallpapers; painted beams and wall paintings.

This wonderful property encompasses the essence of Tudor life and the beauty of Tewkesbury.
Out of the Hat is definitely a must for groups; families; schools and day visitors of all ages.
