Out of the Hat has an exciting range of events that'll keep you busy throughout the year.

We have aimed to make your visit as easy as possible, so if you do have any questions about our events then please don't hesitate in contacting our friendly staff.

Where an additional charge is mentioned all events must be booked in advance. Where normal entry price is stated simply come along and enjoy yourself!

Our events are suitable for 5 years+ in most cases, unless otherwise stated. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Summer Workshops

Join us for two crafts-based workshops for children this August

Hats & Masks Weds 11 August - 10.30am until 2pm

Crowns & Swords Weds 18 Aug - 10.30am until 2pm

Drop in and make your very own work of art- we provide the materials, you provide the imagination. Parents need to stay with their children, but can feel free to enjoy the current RSC costume exhibition whilst you wait.

Usual admission prices apply but include exhibition and entry to the rest of the heritage centre.

Childrens Workshop : A chance to get creative with our experienced staff

The Art of Theatrical Costume

Includes the acclaimed 2008 production of Hamlet, Staring David Tennant (Hamlet) and Patrick Stewart (Claudius)

Your chance to see these stunning costumes close up and find out more about the work that goes into them. A fascinating handling collection too, including helmets, armour and even chain mail.

There will also be a chance to meet Helen Davenport, the wardrobe specialist who made the costumes. Learn how the costumes are kept clean, how the fabrics are made to look well worn and the tricks of the trade.

2 talks- Wednesday 15th September 7pm and Saturday 2nd October 2pm. Tickets £6 to be purchased in advance.
